There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18 (NKJV)
Scroll through the news, check your feed, or just listen to people talk. There is one emotion that seems to dominate everything. Fear. Fear of sickness. Fear of failing. Fear of rejection, crime, inflation, loneliness, the future. Fear has taken up residence in hearts, homes, and even pulpits.
But here is the truth that cuts through the noise. Fear is not from God. It is a tormenting spirit that pulls people into living beneath their calling. It whispers lies that freeze dreams, delay decisions, and hold you back from what God has for you.
2 Timothy 1:7 tells us exactly where fear does not come from. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Think about it. God did not give you fear, so why keep it? What He did give you is power, love, and a sound mind. That means as a child of God, fear has no right to rule your life.
Fear Is a Trap
Proverbs 29:25 says, The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. Fear does not just make people nervous. It traps them. It causes leaders to shrink back, families to fall apart, and people to live half a life, always worried about the what ifs.
Some people live in fear without even being able to name what they are afraid of. They just carry an invisible weight everywhere they go.
But here is the good news. Faith crushes the grip of fear. If you are in Christ, you are not subject to the systems of this world or the spirit of fear that rules it. You are born of God. You live by faith. You walk in the Spirit. And because of that, you are equipped to thrive, even in a world that feels like it is falling apart.
Faith Has Already Won
It does not matter how dark the economy looks, how unstable governments become, or how uncertain your own situation may feel. God has already written your victory into His plan. He has ordained your success in spite of the chaos around you.
1 John 5:4 (AMPC) says, For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith.
Fear says, you cannot make it. Faith says, I already have the victory. Fear says, what if it all falls apart? Faith says, even in the storm, God holds me together.
Live By Faith, Not Fear
So here is your challenge today. Refuse to let fear make your choices for you. Do not act because you are afraid, and do not avoid action because of fear either. Live boldly, love deeply, and lead with courage.
Whether you are a parent, a student, a business owner, or a leader facing heavy decisions, do it all by faith, not fear.
God never designed you to live afraid. He created you to live full of faith, full of purpose, and full of His Spirit.
So take a deep breath. Push fear out the door. And walk boldly into the life God has for you.
